This popular Sunday morning tour focuses on the south of the island and we start with a visit to the beautiful Wied iz-Zurrieq, famous for the magnificent Blue Grotto. This tiny hamlet sits in a valley and has a very picturesque harbour. The grotto and neighbouring system of sea caves are home to brilliant phosphorescent marine life and you can explore these stunning sites on the 25-minute boat trip which explores the incredible beauty of this natural wonder, it really is a must-do. The boat trip is optional and you should allow €10 adults and €5 for children if you would like to do it. Tour participants that do not want to join the boat trip can grab a drink and enjoy the beautiful scenery or browse around the small outlets.
We then continue to our next stop, en route we will pass some interesting locations until we reach the pretty fishing village of Marsaxlokk. The fishing community still thrives today, in fact, most residents are still actively involved. Other typical characteristics of Marsaxlokk include the low lying buildings which line the picturesque waterfront and the colourful traditional fishing boats called the "luzzu", hundreds of them fill the bay. On Sunday, a 'locals' market expands the whole of the waterfront and this market attracts many locals, this is a fabulous opportunity for you to mix and mingle with them. If markets are not your thing, you can visit one of the many outlets and try something typical of this locality.
At this stage, our tour comes to an end and we make our way back.
This tour includes pickup and drop off. View pickup options below and click on the location to view on Google Maps.
The licensed tourist guide that accompanies on tour is multilingual, therefore the tour can be delivered in more than one language.
The caves boat trip at the Blue Grotto operates subject to suitable weather and sea conditions. The boat trip is optional, allow €10 adults and €5 for children which you pay with euro cash directly to the boat operator. The boat departure point is situated down a short 300-meter steepish road. During the busy season electric buggies are provided to take to and from the coach park to the boat departure point and vice versa, these cost a couple of euros each way if you would like to ride them.
The routing of the tour may be different to how it is explained in the tour description.

It was okay. But your time is limited in Marsaxlokk. So if you want to stay for a while it's best to go on your own.

The tour was exactly what I wanted to do however there was too much time picking up passengers and that took away from the time touring around especially the fishing village of Marsaxlokk which I felt I could have stayed longer..

Blue Grotto is stunning, and even though there was a lot of people, it did not take so long to get on the small boats. We stayed on for lunch in Marsaxlokk which is very pretty and made our own way back. Nice tour.

Very enjoyable half day tour. Blue Grotto is fun in the small boats but it needs to be sunny (as it is most of the time) to get full experience of the colours. Marsaxlokk is very picturesque - just a shame we did not have time to have lunch at one of the wonderful fish restaurants as the fish couldn't be fresher!

Blue Grotto and the additional boat trip was fantastic!! This made the trip worth it!! Sadly our hotel pick up was nearly an hour late and the operator seemed to have many problems organizing the day however it was worth it! Marsaxlokk was a cute fishing village and we felt the time there needed to be either extended- so that you have time to browse the markets and have lunch OR shortened so that you could do one OR the other. We found we browsed the Sunday markets and then didn't have enough time to dine in a restaurant as they were so crowded and we only had 30mins spare. Not long enough to have a meal particularly when service is of such a slow standard in Malta. The Blue Grotto is definitely a must see!!!

Loved it, really nice tour guide and a beautiful morning. Blue Grotto was unreal and the boat trip was very special. Might be wise to call the tour operator the day before if you're staying in a less common hotel to make sure they know where to meet you.
